Joint Route Selection and Split Level Management for 5G C-RAN

This work tackles the problem faced by network/infrastructure providers of jointly selecting routing and functional split level to satisfy requests from virtual mobile network operators (vMNOs). We build a novel system model that brings together all involved elements features, embracing levels defined 3GPP packet switch fronthaul network. To our best knowledge, this is first provides solution for multiple vMNO considering two aforementioned sub-problems (i.e., selection routing). use formulate an optimization problem, which characterized exponential size its search space. propose heuristic approaches address problem: (1) greedy scheme, (2) evolutionary algorithm, also improved with specialized initialization. conduct extensive experiments assess performance behavior proposed methods, over varying instances. When possible, we perform comparisons respect optimal well-known commercial solver. Our results indicate techniques represent appropriate trade-offs between quality execution time, can serve complementary goals: yielded method are better, but at cost longer times; in contrast, algorithm offers reasonably performance, time notably lower. show it possible produce near-optimal above complex through computationally efficient algorithmic solutions.
